If you apply online, you may be granted an electronic visa (or eVisa). An eVisa is a visa issued without a physical label.
If you apply online, you may be granted an electronic visa (eVisa). This means you will not have a physical visa label in your passport.
You’ll be told by email when your application has been decided. You can log into your Immigration Online account to see the decision.
If your application is successful, your visa approval letter will include your visa details. If you have an immigration adviser or lawyer, you’ll receive your visa approval letter from them. You should print your eVisa letter, keep it in a safe place, and carry it with you when you travel to New Zealand.

Verifying your visa status

Even if we don’t put a visa label in your passport, employers or education providers can check if you are eligible to work or study in New Zealand using our VisaView system.

Some countries have specific entry, exit and transit visa requirements. If you’re transiting or exiting through another country, it is your responsibility to check with the relevant government authorities, your airline or your travel agent about departure or transit requirements.
If you hold an eVisa, there are many ways to show details of your New Zealand visa while travelling overseas. You can:
  • Show a copy of your visa approval notification
  • Log into your Immigration Online account, or the Visa Verification Service to show a copy of your visa details (including on a mobile device)
  • Advise the government official your visa details so that they can log into the Visa Verification Service
  • Request a physical label from Immigration New Zealand (this is a separate application, and a fee applies)

Four new work visas to come to Australia

http://www.sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/sinhalese/si/article/2016/10/07/four-new-work-visas-come-australia-sbs-sinhalesearticle?language=si

This new visa subclass will allow applicants to come to Australia for temporary work or specified activity.
The Australian Government has proposed new temporary activity visa framework which it plans to implement from 19th November 2016, subject to approval by the Governor-General.
From 19 November 2016, there would be four new visa subclasses:
  1. Subclass 400 Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa
  2. Subclass 403 Temporary Work (International Relations) visa
  3. Subclass 407 Training visa
  4. Subclass 408 Temporary Activity visa.
The new framework is designed to make applying for a temporary visa easier. It would reduce red tape for business, industry and individuals by removing sponsorship and nomination requirements for specific short stay activities.
This means, applicants will be:
  • able to lodge visa applications online through ImmiAccount
  • a single sponsorship (temporary activities sponsor) would replace six existing sponsorship types (long stay activity, training and research, professional development, entertainment, special programme and superyacht crew)
On 19 November 2016, the new visa subclasses would allow applicants to enter Australia for temporary work or a specified activity.
Subclass 400 Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa
This visa would be for people who want to come to Australia on a temporary basis to:
  • undertake short-term, highly specialised, non-ongoing work
  • in limited circumstances, participate in an activity or work relating to Australia’s interests.
Subclass 403 Temporary Work (International Relations) visa
This visa would be for people who want to come to Australia on a temporary basis:
  • in relation to a bilateral agreement
  • to represent a foreign government or to teach a foreign language in an Australian school
  • to undertake full-time domestic work for a diplomat
  • as a person with statutory privileges and immunities
  • to participate in the Seasonal Worker Programme.
Subclass 407 Training visa
This visa would be for people who want to come to Australia on a temporary basis to undertake occupational training or participate in classroom based professional development activities.
Subclass 408 Temporary Activity visa
This visa would be for people who want to come to Australia on a temporary basis to:
  • work in the entertainment industry
  • participate in a non-ongoing cultural or social activities at the invitation of an Australian organisation
  • observe or participate as an academic in a research project
  • undertake full-time religious work
  • participate in a special programme to enhance international relations and cultural exchange
  • participate in high-level sports (including training)
  • work in a skilled position under a staff exchange arrangement
  • participate in an Australian government endorsed event
  • work as a superyacht crew member
  • undertake full-time domestic work in the household of certain senior foreign executives.
The following diagram shows the proposed new temporary activity visa framework in more detail.

Indian students to be deported over fake documents

The government has been accused of treating a group of Indian tertiary students unfairly by moving to deport them.

Immigration lawyer Alastair McClymont said the nine students, who had been studying in Auckland, have been served with deportation notices because their India-based agent used fake documents to get them into the country.
Mr McClymont said the students got their student visas through an education agent based in India, who submitted fraudulent documents on their behalf.
The students had no idea fake documents were used, and deporting them for something that was not their fault was wrong, he said.
The students had each spent about $30,000 on their studies and were about to graduate.
"It's extremely unfair because all of these students were victims of a scam by their agents, they knew nothing about the frauded documents. They've now spent their life savings, families have taken out huge loans to pay for their studies here in New Zealand, they're about to graduate, now Immigration are saying you're going to be deported, you're out of here," he said.
Mr McClymont said the students should be allowed to stay, just like the hundreds of Filipino dairy workers who were allowed to remain last year despite their agents having submitted similar fake documents.
"The facts of the two situations are exactly the same, except I suppose the dairy farmers have a lot of clout in getting their local MPs and Ministers to grant the amnesty. In this situation, the students have already spent their money here in New Zealand, they've already paid the schools, so I suppose Immigration New Zealand see them as being expendable now."
Mr McClymont said he would be submitting an application to the Minister of Immigration, Michael Woodhouse, requesting that the students' deportation be cancelled.
"I hope the Minister is going to exercise the same discretion that he did with the Filipino workers and allow them to stay as well."

Afraid to face family

Manoj Narra is one of the students facing deportation and says he is struggling to sleep and too scared to go home to face his family.
Mr Narra's family spent about $15,000 sending him to New Zealand so he could be the first person in his family to get a tertiary education.
He arrived late last year to do a business course and was due to graduate this year.
He said he was not to blame for the fraudulent documents and fears facing his family.
"I feel totally bad because I can't see even my family faces because everyone was putting a lot of hope on me that I can achieve in my family something.
"How can I face them?"
Mr Narra said he did not understand why Immigration New Zealand was taking such a strong stance against him, when he was the one who was cheated.
